Tyler hits it out of the park (again)
OK I was already kind of at a loss for superlatives for the Portfolio Charts site generally and Tyler's "deep dive" posts on specific asset classes and market conditions going back years now, but this new post may be his best yet:
https://portfoliocharts.com/2021/03/02/ ... he-matrix/
To be able to gently skewer pretty much every kind of "the sky is falling/this time it's different" market noise while also featuring the very coolest clips from the Matrix is a rare skill indeed. What an amazing mind!

Tyler,
I just read it (thanks Kevin).
It should be required reading for anyone to join this forum.
To look at all the individual drawdowns and then as a whole is eye opening.

Thanks for the link and top-notch reference, Kevin. And for the kind words, Cortopassi.
But seriously, I Shrugged. YES. Watch it asap.

Thanks Kevin,
It was an interesting read. Reminded my a a Marc Faber talk I watched yesterday.
He said the biggest mistake of his life was thinking that his opinion mattered, and said the most important thing was how you react to market changes,
He also stated the it was not possible to accurately predict changes in the market. Sounded very Harry Browne'ish......
Edit: I see Tyler posted a few seconds ago. Thanks Tyler for all the effort you put into your site!

This is so good. One question, Tyler.
In any case, it’s always hard to find someone who is both great at math and eloquent. You’ve got the left brain and the right brain. I’m very envious!
I hope Agent Smithers gets a chance to read the piece.
Do you think it should be “not...that don’t deserve investor attention” —? Maybe not. i guess it depends on where you mentally put the brackets.I’m not at all trying to imply that they’re not very serious issues that deserve investor attention

Good catch! Yeah, the string of negatives kinda got out of hand there. I changed it to this, and hopefully it makes a little more sense:
I'm not at all trying to imply that they're unimportant or don't deserve investor attention.
And I'm glad you guys find it interesting, as I admit I was pretty excited with how it turned out but you don't always know ahead of time what will resonate. Thanks!

It’s really a great read. I’m going to recommend it even to people who don’t know what the pp (or golden butterfly) is.

What! You mean we need not swap out long term bonds for bitcoins!? Seriously, theres’s probably in some circles as much fear of losing out with long term bonds as there is FOMO with crypto.
Thank you Tyler. Your site is a marvel of sophisticated simplicity. And your gems can even be shared with non-English speaking readers now. Truly impressive.

I am wondering though, Tyler (and no, I am not leaning towards "there are people with less to say that wrote books") - given the number of articles you have, plus the GB internal specifics (+historical performance and other stats) - isn't it worth that you have all that compiled in a book ... ?
Just my 2c.
PS. That may coincide with the (long?) expected stock bubble burst.. then you will be right on time

Re: Tyler hits it out of the park (again)
Ha! Writing a book on defensive asset allocation and sitting on it until the stock market tanks would be a real power play. If you're not in marketing, you should consider it.

Yeah, I've thought about writing a book a few times. Early on, I wasn't sure I'd have enough to say to make it worthwhile. Now, I have so much to say that I'm not sure where to start! First world blogger problems, I know.
But thanks for the suggestion. I can see myself doing that at some point, and it's probably just a matter of inspiration and time.
Re: Tyler hits it out of the park (again)
When I was in high school we camped out for the first new Star Wars movie in ages. While in line (multiple days, in shifts) the theater would let us go in and see films without losing our place. Pretty good deal for everyone. Most of the movies I saw during that time ended up being better than the new Star Wars. The ones I remember:
The Matrix
The Mummy (the first one of that set)
Entrapment (Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, with the lasers)
