BelangP's 65/35 vs PP
Interesting little video. Paul has now accumulated enough to retire at 50.

Would love for more people to review this and see what they think. I saw this as video as well and want to think about it. From my own amateur analysis it seemed pretty volatile compared to the PP with bigger drawdowns. But it does simplify things even more.

Hey thanks for the post. I need to carefully consider some of your suggestions. I will also respectfully and slightly disagree with you on the value of the forum members evaluating different approaches. I've found it extremely and profoundly valuable. Just like your post. Super helpful.
Re: BelangP's 65/35 vs PP
How would you adjust / balance your total stock market allocations based on the CAPE and possibly the Buffet Indicator (Market Cap / GDP)? I understand the concept but interested in hearing specific strategies or formulas to tinker with the allocations. I heard this concept being discussed on a Morning Star podcast called "The Long View" and it makes a lot of sense. Thanks again!

I had subscribed to this topic specifically to be able to go back and read what HAD BEEN here. Now it is all gone?

I noticed arunforthehills post had been removed. It's a shame because it was a good one. Seems like he was editing it but then it got deleted.

Yeah, that was an excellent reply to PPNoobs query.
Seems to me that when your risk tolerance is greater, that a VP based on 65/35 makes eminent sense. Perhaps as you get near retirement, roll some of the gains into the PP.
*Sacrilege Warning* I do have a 60/40 MSCI Dev World/Gold Portfolio in a SMSF with my brother. No issues so far.
Don't worry Smithy, haven't turned to the "DarkSide". Still using the GoldSmith Portfolio as the main allocation

Re: BelangP's 65/35 vs PP
My non taxable is using the HBPP but I am trying to build up a defensive position for a taxable account built over many years. So far it has been done by mostly adding funds into physical gold, but like many other on the forum, LTT, are not something I want to move more money into. I have decent cash positions as well.
I am interested in the concept of modifying total stock market allocations based on CAPE and GDP/Market Cap. I'll see if I can dig something up for that approach. But when I do find it I wish there was a simple way to back test a dynamic portfolio like that.

I just misread the thread nest above as ahrunforthehills saying posts were gone, when in actuality it was vinny saying hills' post was gone. So, I began assembling all the little belangp threads, recent ones, for hills. Oh well, here they are anyway:tomfoolery wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 1:43 amI’m sorry this happened my friend.
