Enjoy!

What a great site!  I've no idea how to tackle this embarrassment of riches in an orderly fashion so I just dove right into the 30s.

I was greeted with colorized photos of Moscow in the 30s, dating tips for single ladies from 1938, and shots of the last Tasmanian Tiger (a now-extinct animal with enormous lion-like jaws, stripes like a zebra, and a pouch like a kangaroo.)

I love it!  Thanks for posting.

Here is a young Barack Obama, looking like he is waiting to audition for a role in "Welcome Back Kotter".

I can't believe everything that is there.

Here are some shots from the building of the Empire State Building:

This one is very appropriately titled "Retronautic WTF":

A safety manual from the 1950s:

Who knew that things like hiding in a pile of leaves could be so dangerous, or that getting "crippled for life" was such a common occurrence?

A three minute video from the air of an "uncontacted" tribe on the Brazil-Peru border.

Imagine what these people would think about the world that exists a relatively short distance from where they live.  Talk about a "Truman Show" moment!

Medium Tex, that whole "Human Planet" TV series was awesome.

On another TV show I saw an amazing interview with people who in the 1970s had been involved in the first contact between the Papua New Guinea highlanders and the outside world. It was amazing to hear first hand recollections by the highlanders of what they had thought about the white Australian's who made contact with them. What really struck me was that it wasn't so much first seeing an airplane or guns but seeing trousers and mirrors that made an impact.
