The Buffett Empire Visualized

Post by Smith1776 »

A cool infographic that lays out visually the entire Buffett empire. It's a few years old but perfectly valid. I thought this was sooooo cool. I've attached it here but viewing it locally on your machine may be best so you can zoom and pan. Here's a link to the original.

He's got a pretty hands-off approach, but I can think of three things off the top of my head:

First would be that he protects the subsidiary company's management from Wall Street pressure for quarterly results and short-term expectations. Second, he can take cash from one business and put it into another business that can use the funds more productively. Third would be that he can hire/fire or otherwise influence management.

The most he does for these companies is treat them as companies. Not treating them as financial assets to buy and sell on the short-term. He is in it for the long-term just like the owners of a business.
