I haven’t heard an explanation for either one. I assume related to the SolarWinds hack?

I think they’re remaining mum on it. And I used to think gmail was so robust.

Apparently it wasn't just a Gmail problem. I had that too but I first noticed it when I couldn't login to Youtube or YoutubeTV on my smart TV. Both are Google logins. I was able to login to Gmail but when I did there was a message saying my contacts wouldn't be availabe.
