The power of rationalization and the extensive list of related biases is really fascinating.
I think when we lived in a time when the limited news outlets were trusted, at least we all dealt from the same set of facts. Nowadays with more sources of information than fruits and vegetables in the produce department, it's anyone's guess as to how far perceptions of reality can diverge.

Right now as the election unfolds, many are just holding their breath or in shock that it is shaping up so differently than they expected. However once that wears off, and legal challenges begin, conspiracy theories will abound, tempers may flare, and who knows where it will all lead. It's really hard for many of us to truly let go of the outcome we so badly wanted.
