Any of you ever had a position in public office?

Post by yankees60 »

I don't think I've ever read anyone here making reference to a public office that the person held. HAVE any of you had a position in public office?

I've thought about it but I vowed I'd never even attempt it until my basketball and softball careers were over as I did not want any of those pesky night political meetings to interfere with any of my sports endeavors.

God no.

No good deed goes unpunished.

I guess I took HB's advice in the Freedom book very much to heart. Namely, let the others fight it out.

Oh, yes. Now that you say that I do remember that in the book. It was just about a year ago that I read that book. And, I remember it being quite life affirming to me in that I'd for years I'd made the choices to do what I wanted to do rather than what others wanted to do. I'm not saying that if I was with someone else I'd demand my way. Just that I'd rather be by myself and do it my way instead of having to negotiate with another person.

Me too but I quit when I got negative feedback from suggesting adding an option to the form that was sent out each year to elect the board members. Not enough people returned them to meet government requirements so we had to go door to door every year to collect them. So I suggested that maybe we could get more people to return them if we added an option to disband the HOA. That was met by dead silence in the board meeting and it caused me to realize I wasn't very good at this politics thing.

(Or maybe I really WAS good at it but didn't have the stomach for it.)
