The Case for Who Satoshi Nakamoto Really Is

Post by Smith1776 »

For anyone even remotely familiar with Bitcoin, you know there has been a years long debate regarding the identity of its creator -- Satoshi Nakamoto. For the longest time I thought the most likely candidate was Hal Finney. He received the first Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi. He had the right skillset. He lived down the street from a man literally named Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto.

Not all the details regarding his online activity and interactions matched up perfectly with Satoshi though. The time of day in which Satoshi would typically post was somewhat unusual for someone living in the U.S. Stylometric analysis of his writing also suggested someone of British origin. The origin block for Bitcoin also contains a quote from a British newspaper.

Barely Sociable is a YouTube channel that makes high-quality amateur documentaries that really come off as in-depth investigative journalism. Here's their piece on who they think Satoshi really is. It is very well done. It's enough to change my mind on who the likely candidate for Satoshi is.

Just so this doesn't come off as clickbait, no the video does not prove who Satoshi is beyond a shadow of a doubt. Every case is circumstantial. However, this is the strongest circumstantial case I've ever seen.

And no, I don't believe for a second that Craig Wright is Satoshi. Wright can take a flying leap.

I confess. I am not Satoshi. Really. I am not.

I couldn't find the prime factors of a key if you paid me. Really. It sounds hard.

Just text me your bitcoin wallet. That'll show you how stupid I am. Triple dog dare you.

It's supposed to be hard. If it's not hard, the whole scheme unravels.

I'm kind of disappointed that Craig didn't post in this thread with his opinion!
