I actually agree that their list of “white” qualities are indeed commonly observed in white cultures throughout history.

Now, to even better educate ourselves, shall we examine a similar list of qualities commonly observed in black cultures throughout history?

"Aggressiveness and Extroversion"?

Of course. Have you ever known a white person who wasn't an extrovert?

I haven't read that book "White Fragility" and don't intend to but I've heard it's a classic example of circular reasoning - the best evidence of your white privilege is the fact you don't know you have it.

I do believe that 25% of the white population are introverts. If you look up the definition of the word, you'll see my picture as an example!

Speaking of "white", it isn't really clear what that is. Italians were not always considered "white", so your example wouldn't always have applied, Vinny!

I'm not an extrovert but I have consumed enough alcohol on occasion to give some people that impression. Takes a lot though.

I assume the "aggressiveness and extroversion" refers mainly to the people at or near the top of organizational hierarchies (executives, chiefs, etc.). Even then, I think assertiveness would be a more accurate term than aggressiveness.

No, obviously that would be racist!

I gave a response to this but it looks like it got lost due to someone else posting something at the same time or later or something like that. Dualstow will know what I am talking about. I try to watch out for it but it still gets me.

Don't want to rewrite it all again now. Maybe, sometime in the future.

A heuristic of mine - select CTRL + C to copy your post to the clipboard and CTRL + V to paste it again should it get lost while someone else is posting to the same thread.

Hope this helps.

If I am in the middle of a long one I'll generally pause and take what I've done so far and email it to myself in case of there is any type of malfunction here (or anywhere else computer related).

This was not that long a one that I'd have done that. I guess the moral of the story is to keep checking all those Submit buttons.

By the way does that "feature" which has caused me more problems than ever provided any benefit....has it ever been of any benefit to you (or to anyone else reading this)?

I've never benefitted from it. Usually any new post that appears while I'm writing my post doesn't change what I plan to say.

The one scenario I can imagine where the feature might help is if, while I'm writing my post, a new post appears that says almost exactly the same thing as what I'm about to say. But I don't think that's ever happened to me.

From a design perspective, I think the biggest problem with the feature is that it doesn't make it very obvious visually to the user that it's asking you to review a new post and click "Submit" a second time. Visually, it's too subtle.

Could there be a way of de-activating this "feature"?

That would probably require an admin modification by Xan. The workaround I use is to always click "Preview" before "Submit". That way the new-post warning (if any) shows up on the preview screen and doesn't interfere when you then immediately click "Submit".

Unless a new post is made between the time you click Preview and Submit.

I'll look into the options.
