Just finished Census 2020.
From searching for web site to submitting took all of three minutes!
Fairly easy and quick for a single person. No questions regarding pets!!! That would have GREATLY elongated the process!
Seems like mine was a quite basic version.
Gave my race as "White" but added in the box below "100% Southern Italian".

Re: Census 2020
I give them names and ages of people living in the house, and that's it. All that's Constitutional is "actual enumeration". All this BS about race and income and who knows what else is just to help the government do social engineering, which I want no part of. I leave most of it blank.yankees60 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 12:53 pm Just finished Census 2020.

And, just looked at the paper version for the first time before throwing it out. 8 pages and WAY more complex than the online version. The online version streamlined it by basing subsequent questions on prior questions to answer. It quickly figured out I have the simplest situation possible.yankees60 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 12:53 pm Just finished Census 2020.

Re: Census 2020
I find it interesting that most government forms that ask about race do so in very broad terms (only a handful of categories) and say that providing the information is optional, but the census form asks about race in great detail (many narrow categories) and don't say that providing the information is optional.
Not exactly consistent. But I guess when has the government ever been consistent?

Re: Census 2020
I think me adding in 100% Southern Italian was optional and not required. And, being just one was easy. But would they expect other people to write, say, French / German / Russian / Italian / Hungarian (with or without %'s??!!)?Tortoise wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 5:34 pm I find it interesting that most government forms that ask about race do so in very broad terms (only a handful of categories) and say that providing the information is optional, but the census form asks about race in great detail (many narrow categories) and don't say that providing the information is optional.

Re: Census 2020
Yeah, I recall there was a box next to the White category that said something like "add more detail if known."
The more narrow categories I was referring to on the census form were things like specific Asian nationalities (such as Vietnamese and Singaporean). That surprised me since most other government forms list only the super-broad category "Asian."
I have no idea how it would ever matter to the census officials whether a given person living at a certain address is of Vietnamese rather than Singaporean heritage, but there's a lot of stuff about government that makes no sense to me.
