There are some characters that are truly Cantonese-only,
So it's sort of like the relationship between German and Swiss German?
That’s a question for Harry Browne. :-) I don’t know much about German, let alone Swiss German.
I have watched Babylon Berlin without dubbing*, and I once read that Swiss German doesn’t use that special character, instead opting for a double-S. That’s not what you mean, is it?

Novartis CEO says Malaria drug is biggest hope against coronavirus
"Pre-clinical studies in animals as well as the first data from clinical studies show that hydroxychloroquine kills the coronavirus," Narasimhan told the newspaper.

No, I meant that Swiss German isn't much of a written language. It's primarily a spoken language with many dialects.
High German speakers think it's horrible.
The latest Massachusetts stats as of 4 PM Sunday. I've not looked at these for several days.
Up to 41 in my county and 37 in the adjoining one. Seems like 2nd and 3rd lowest of all counties in the state.
I've always noticed whenever I look at these that the male / female split has always been about equal. But this is the first time I'm noticing the "unknown" category?
I don't know Massachusetts stats compared to other states in the country per capita.
Those four new deaths were fairly old, with the youngest being in the 70s.

The Curve Is Not Flat Enough
Hospitals are poised to face the kind of life-and-death decisions that industrialized countries typically encounter only in times of war and natural disaster.

remember , though detectable does not mean it can still get you sick easily ... these virus's become weaker and weaker each hour ... their half lives are relatively much shorter as well as their ability to infect .
you can still get it days later from an object but it does become harder to get through healthy skin and usually needs an entry way in to mucous membranes
my ex wife was released for home treatment .... my daughter inlaws mom is still being held but is better ... the bad news is my daughter inlaws father unknowingly had it too ... they found him dead in the house last night .
now the kids have to tell my daughter inlaws mom who has no idea and is still hospitalized ... i don't think they are going to tell my ex just yet either

Sad.

My understanding is that it can't get through healthy skin at all. Mucous membranes are the entryway.
no idea .. but the way it is striking here finding out later on we were wrong about how it gets transmitted does not do a bit of good after the fact. this thing is wicked ... we have 1 person dying every 17 minutes in ny from it ...other cities are first ramping up.
this thing is not to be taken lightly , it is no ordinary flu .... i believe this was a bio germ warfare experiment gone wrong .....it is to perfect at what it does ...
every day we read conflicting reports as far as what we thought or were doing .

Breitbart's reporting this morning that hydroxychloroquine has just been approved by the FDA for the treatment of coronavirus.
My ex was released yesterday ..she said if they catch it early on there is a three drug cocktail they have been using that has been fairly effective .....she couldn’t breath and talk when she went in on Friday .they gave it to her for a day ....she is home recuperating but feels so much better ......
The debate about masks seems so ridiculous. . . I frequently come into contact with rodent droppings in the barn and chicken coop. When cleaning, I ALWAYS wear a mask, which has been recommended since the dawn of time for protection against hantavirus. I see absolutely no reason why the same strategy would not apply here.
For the past couple of weeks, one of my local radio stations that normally plays pop/rock music has been playing Christmas music -- yes, Christmas music -- for a couple of hours a day (around lunch and dinner time, I think). Presumably to help comfort people.
The first time I heard it two weeks ago, I was driving somewhere to pick up dinner and already felt like I had stepped into an alternate reality due to the empty streets and parking lots. When I switched the channel and landed on that Christmas music, it just cemented the weirdness.
