WEB archive FAQ links

Post by mdwilson1991 »

I think the wayback machine has messed things up. The links to the old FAQs are no longer working. At least, for gold and stocks they aren't.

I get the error:

Sorry.
This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine.

I've never seen this error before.

As I was quite oftentimes going back through Topics in the archives here I routinely got the same error message for Topics before a certain date.

Yes, for example, under the Stock section is a Stock FAQ. They worked fairly recently but now the wayback machine has other ideas.

Ahhh, ok. I had remembered seeing FAQ, but I’d forgotten that they were within sections. It was driving me nuts that I couldn’t find it on the main page.

If they ever get fixed, I’ll archive them myself.

It's possible that whoever ended up with crawlingroad.com had a robots.txt which disallowed everything. I believe the Wayback Machine honors current robots.txt even for archives, and also it doesn't have any concept of a site being replaced by a different one.

I fear the FAQs may be lost. :-(

Maybe Craig has it on a hard drive somewhere.
