EARN IT Bill

Post by Smith1776 »

"Never let a good crisis go to waste."

While the public consciousness is so focused on COVID-19 and its associated fallout. There is a bill worming its way through the U.S. Government that looks to essentially put a backdoor in end-to-end encryption used by online communications platforms.

This is incredibly scary. The world we live in is becoming far queerer than Orwell ever could have imagined. Telescreens, patrols, and the degree of doublethink demonstrated in the book 1984 are quaint and cute compared to what we are seeing in real life.

Just while I have you here.

Below is what I earlier wrote today to a business owner:

"I've been listening to the Canadian Prime Minister describe all they are going to do in their country. And, he is confident they will fairly quickly recover as a country because of the way they have run their country. If only our country had done the same and elected people like him. I'll later check in with a Canadian person to see if my impressions are correct here or if he will tell me it's just as bad there."

As it would have it I'm hearing it all over again on C-Span as I type this. But in between the first time I heard it and now I heard Trump speak at the daily conference. What a contrast in presentation between the two of them! One seems thoughtful and inspires confidence. While the other?

Trump does seem to do much better, though, when he's just speaking whatever runs through that mind of his as opposed to how absolutely dreadful he is when he is reading through something that has been prepared.
