How do you post pictures?

Post by Maddy »

I see that pressing the [img] button inserts the "image on" and "image off" codes in what you're writing, but what do you put in between those codes to import a picture from your computer? Basic, please!

The exact url of a picture. e.g.:

Code: Select all

[img]http://somesite.com/someimage.jpg[/img]
I like to upload pictures to http://imgur.com. Once a picture is uploaded, you can right-click on it and select "copy image location" or something like that (the exact name of the menu item depends on the browser). That puts the link to the image into your computer's clipboard. Paste it between the IMG tags.

Thanks, PS. So if I'm understanding correctly, you can't browse for and upload a picture directly from your computer; you have to first send it to an external website?

Thanks, Tenn-- Very helpful.

The prospect of uploading pictures to an unknown website kind of unnerves me. Maybe it shouldn't, as this forum is hardly private. But it least this site tends not to attract wierdos.

Yeah, if you're going to publicly post an image here, I don't see the objection to uploading it to a random website (Imgur is hardly an "unknown website, FYI--very good reputation). It's not like they would do anything with it that can't be done by virtue of posting it on a public forum.

Photobucket is about to degrade my membership because I use it to post pictures here. What other photo hosting sites do you people use? I read about imgur, any other suggestions? I'm looking for free, fast, and easy.

Here's a list, ocho. https://www.lifewire.com/free-image-hos ... es-3486329
Tinypic, from photobucket, might be an option. PostImage, too.
