Almost invariably the positions of progressives rely, at least implicitly, upon the premise that "If everybody would just think/behave like me, then we could solve this problem."

Certainly, but part of maturity is coming to the understanding that everybody else is just as certain as you are about the "answers." Sadly, the loudmouth progressives who have all but taken over the democrat party don't seem to get that, or maybe they just don't care.
