Do PMs Work?
I received an email with a link to a new private message. When I click the link, I get a page stating that I am "not authorized" to view the message.
Re: Do PMs Work?
can you see the PM through your messages page when you are logged in ?

Email shows your subject line,
testing send me a pm in return
but when I click the link, I get

So somehow my PMs are on hold. Is that something that can be undone in settings? You are not authorised to read private messages that are on hold.
Re: Do PMs Work?
there are a couple settings for pms in user control panel - board preferences - edit global settings ..
-Allow users to send you private messages:
Note that administrators and moderators will always be able to send you messages. --- Yes No
-the other is in notifications which seem to be on and working for you..
if you can, send a pm to me... i am curious to see if i get messages, we can try to figure out if its just you or if this is a global problem.

Re: Do PMs Work?
I just stumbled upon the cause of the issue. I sent you a pm and then went to the Control Panel.
While the envelope icon at the top right says no new messages, Control Panel, Private Messages tab, says
I guess the software should have said "inbox full" in other places, like my inbox.
Funny that we have to go to settings to see that.
Now, I do see something in my inbox that says, "Folder is 172% full (86 out of 50 messages stored)" Now that's full.
Thanks for your efforts, l8.

You have 2 private messages currently on hold because of full folder.
Release all on-hold messages… they will be re-sorted into the appropriate folder if enough space is made available.

Re: Do PMs Work?
dualstow,
I had to go through my PMs with a chainsaw last week. I am now at 82% capacity. It took awhile and you may find it tough to pick the ones to go. I lost some good info in the PMs. I will request the info again sooner or later.
I did suggest putting mailbox capacity at 100 (doubled). All in favor…?

My outbox is at 182% capacity. Is that a problem? I rarely refer to the outbox, anyway. Good to reduce the outbox to make the system work better?

Re: Do PMs Work?
Thanks, guys.
Just archived a bunch of my precious PMs regarding emacs & linux with early cuyler, joe & jack jones.
Exporting to CSV looks weird so I did the old copy & paste to text files.
Now I can delete.
bedraggled: when I got capacity below 100%, I was able to "release" those unread messages so yes, 182% is a problem.

dualstow,
My outbox at 182% is a problem?
I was thrilled to merely have use of my inbox.
Gee whiz!

Re: Do PMs Work?
And how did we get Bing, Google and Yahoo under registered users?
They weren't listed on the old set up?
The more, the merrier, I guess.

Re: Do PMs Work?
Ok, I'm going to PM you. If you can read it -- not just the subject line but the whole message -- then it's not a problem.
If you cannot, then you need to get down to like 96% capacity to read future messages.
Or you could just PM everyone your email address.

Re: Do PMs Work?
Bing, Google and Yahoo have always been lurking / scraping here, they were listed as search bots on the old system and as users under this one...

Thanks, 182Start.
Do I have the capacity to store in archives in this system?

Re: Do PMs Work?
there is a manage Rules, folders & settings, option that lets you create a new folder (archives) i haven't experiment with it yet but it might meet the purpose.
