I posted about it in the backup forum. It's just an illegal investment scheme that will be shut down eventually. Have fun in the meantime!

But like the blockchain or Bitcoin the concepts could live on. I like the idea of a corporation truly controlled by the shareholders instead of directors and management.

This is what the Democratic Autonomous Organization (DAO) is built upon: https://www.ethereum.org/

It's a blockchain for legal contracts without relying on lawyers or other pesky human parasitic redundancies in the middle.

You can even start your own central bank with it. 8)

So basically it comes down to this... Bitcoins is disrupting finance; Ethereum is disrupting legal contracts; Safecoins will disrupt the Internet.

It's the ultimate middle finger.

Was I right or was I right? Okay, it didn't happen as expected but it still happened.
Sometime in the wee hours Friday, a thief made off with $50 million of virtual currency.

The victims are investors in a strange fund called the DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, who poured more than $150 million of a bitcoin-style currency called Ether into the project.

The people who created the DAO saw it as a decentralized investment fund. Instead of leaving decisions to a few partners, anyone who invested would have a say in which companies to fund. The more you contributed, the more weight your vote carried. And the distributed structure meant no one could run off with the money.

That was the plan, anyway.
