Well, it wasn't quite up to the standard of places like the one in the East Village that sells deep fried Twinkies, but I must say the cuban sandwich was great.
We did miss Reub and also wondered what would happen if Mathjak were to show up.

I may have to plan a trip to NYC just to meet up with everyone there. It sounds like fun.

A fun time was had by all as we resolved the world's remaining financial issues. The solution to every potential problem is: adopt the PP.
And as usual, we directed the waiter to send the food bill to Craig and the booze bill to Medium Tex (and don't forget the 20% tip, guys!)

Tyler,
Give us several dates. If you are coming, we'll make the arrangements, and sooner than later.
For such an esteemed visitor…!!!
Early May sounds good.
Be advised, we uptown folks are not sure the world exists below West 110th Street, Manhattan. Goodasgold has suggested it does.

I was actually in the city that day, but shooting an interview for a documentary I'm making. Would have been nice to say hi again, particularly now that the PP is doing well and not lagging like last year. I said last time I was sticking with the 4x25 and I'm happy with the results of staying consistent so far!

Tom,
Suggest a couple of days. Sundays are better. There is a core who like to meet.
Was great to meet you last year.
Cheers.

Thanks bedraggled - likewise. Unfortunately I live in CT and commute to NYC every day for work and life is just a little to hectic these days to be able to prioritize a meetup. I keep my eye on the board and if one ever pops up on it's own that works out I'll make an appearance for sure.

Tom,
We have met weekdays. Grand Central would make Goodasgold ecstatic (I think).
Let me know. I CAN travel south of 110th Street. We will see who else can make it.
After 5/2/16 works.
Teacher vacation has arrived! There is a God!
Excelsior!

All in favor of another NYC meet up, please state your interest!
The "Core Four:" Sophie, Goodasgold, Barrett and Bedraggled know where to find the uptown places. And I didn't try the Mimosa at "Next Door" on West 187th Street. Kismet, the Indian restaurant, around the corner, has been around for 30+ years but they have jacked up their prices relative to others. I think they introduced a lunch buffet. Might be good.
181Cabrini was OK, too. Consider Strokos for the pizza and Diet Coke fans.
BTW, this won't be on 4/17/16. Can someone fix the heading?

OK, Sophie,
Choice 1, Le Cheile (this place still OK, Sophie?) or
Choice 2, 181 Cabrini (our last meet).
(If you folks demand Indian food, let me know).
What's your schedule, people? Are Sundays good this summer?
Would be good to meet AdamA. The return of Tom & Co. would be equally appreciated. The date may be decided by the "Core Four," i.e., "What's Barrett's scheduling? * **
* CraigR, MediumTex, 182Start and Mark Leavy are, of course, welcome.
** MG, PS and TennPaGa are expected.
(We did have a decent summer meet last year over pizza but choices 1 and 2 seem OK).

Le Cheile is lovely. I think the group voiced the opinion that Next Door was better than 181 Cabrini, because they didn't try to hurry us out. Fewer customers can be a good thing.

Re: *** NYC PP Meetups - @ ? ***
On Fathers Day, "Next Door" gave me a bottle of Stella when I expected a pint but that may be my problem. And Next Door was not too crowded.
So, let's revise:
Choice 1: Le Cheile (West 181st Street @ Cabrini Blvd),
Choice 2: Next Door (our original place, West 187th off of Ft. Washington).
Chime in on nearby Indian food but….
Does Sunday work? There are 4 more Sundays in July. 1 PM is our last meet time.

Weekday, near Grand Central starting around 7:30pm would really be the only time I'd be able to make. But totally don't plan it around me.bedraggled wrote:The return of Tom & Co. would be equally appreciated.

Tom,
Thanks. Maybe Goodasgold and I could get there as we Two may have more flexibility than Sophie.
We will still meet with Sophie uptown as plans unfold.
Barrett may find Grand Central Terminal convenient. Chime in, Barrett.
Anyone else for Grand Central Terminal? MachineGhost? PS? TennPaGa? Tech?

Re: *** NYC PP Meetups - @ ? ***
Grand Central itself is not a particularly fun meeting place. Tom can you suggest a place that manages to be a bit less pricey/noisy than usual? Or, what about someplace in Koreatown, if people are up for seriously authentic Korean?
My schedule may not permit getting to that area by 7:30pm, but if that ends up being the group consensus I'll do my best.

Literally a stone's throw from Grand Central (on Park Ave., I believe) is one of those indoor "public meeting places" peculiar to NY City. I know it has that essential prerequisite for us old-timers, a restroom. Tomorrow I will go there to verify availability, hours of operation, etc. It might be a good alternative to noisy Grand Central.

Thanks, Goodasgold,
I am in favor of having 2 meets, if it helps. I still wish to have the "usual" uptown meet: good company, good chat, good advice/info.

Re: *** NYC PP Meetups - @ ? ***
I prefer to meet in the pleasant ambiance of a restaurant for our NYC PP meetup, provided they allow us lots of time to sit around solving the world's financial problems after we eat. So my vote would go to one of the restaurants in northern Manhattan where we have met previously.
But today I also checked out an indoor public space located on East 42nd St. at the southwest corner of Park Avenue (right across from Grand Central Terminal.) It has tables and chairs for a group chat.
'
Its hours are 7:30 A.M. to 9:30 P.M. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sundays. There is a restroom onsite.
The security guard said a group of about ten people would be okay.
Its advantages as a meeting place are: (1) very convenient Midtown location, suitable for New Yorkers and commuters alike, (2) not noisy (when I have been there), (3) fine air conditioning, (4) suitable for bringing in food while we chat.
Possible disadvantages: (1) ambiance is okay but not especially warm, (2) sometimes a few homeless people hang out there (although a security guard is present to handle any potential inconveniences.)

Thanks for checking that place out. It sounds doable, though not as inviting as a restaurant. But, great option if it would bring in more people.

Sophie, Goodasgold,
Looks like we Three will meet uptown. All others are welcome, of course.
Sophie, you get to pick time and date. If your schedule is prohibitive, GAG and I will meet and solve everything and then we'll gather shortly after.
