I Finally Got To Meet One of You

Post by MediumTex »

Greg and his wife were passing through town and we met for lunch today.

We talked for over two hours, but it flew by.  It was really an amazing experience to have all of the ideas we exchange here sort of hop over into the real world in a real conversation with a real person.

I wasn't disappointed.  Greg is about as nice as they come and it was a real privilege to meet with him.  His wife also couldn't have been cooler.  I can't imagine a better way to have spent the afternoon.

Meeting someone in person you only know from online interactions is a really interesting and kind of intense experience.  It was certainly fun.  I felt like an astronomer who suddenly found himself on the surface of a planet he had previously only seen through a telescope.

Is there a "like" button that I can press?

MediumTex is very kind to say those nice things about my wife and I. At least for him, he was a wonderful person and a perfect gentleman in terms of making sure that my wife and I were enjoying our meals (we had Tex Mex), and in general just making sure that we were having a good time. It was very nice to be able to finally see him in person and realize there are physically people out there in the world that you can have really deep and insightful conversations with; it just sometimes takes a while to find them in the real world.

I can only hope that all of my experiences with meeting PP'ers in the future are as positive as my experience was with him (we currently live in the Baltimore/Philadelphia area for those interested). Thanks again for the memories (and the forum)!!! :)

Nice!

I enjoyed the NYC meetup too, for very similar reasons.  Speaking of which...bedraggled, you were organizing another one?

(I figured you'd already met craigr, though.)
Craig and I have FaceTimed plenty, but never met in person.

My wife and I will be in Phila. (which is where I'm from) from April 19th through the 22nd. If there were a meetup then I would like to attend.

I think we should be able to make that in philly, or at least me. We can see if anyone else wants to join.

I'm currently at a wedding and would rather talk about fascism, etc. with all of you. I desire to meet more of y'all.

WiseOne, et al,

Back in town.

I believe goodasgold, barrett and I look to your schedule opening.  That includes a weeknight on a dinner break.

barrett said his time may be scarce, so plan ahead and he will try to fit the meet in.

All who can make it are welcome, also.  (We first met 10 months ago).
