Hey, that LXLE looks pretty cool. I think I'm going to replace Mint w/ that and give it a spin.
Mint is fine, but it already failed something very simple and basic: a password change.
I don't need to process photos or do anything fancy, but not handling a change in login- that's a dealbreaker.
I really just need something light and stable that allows me to play with emacs and do some occasional browsing.
And like Tortoise, I've got an old (spare) machine. Only 1G RAM.

Damn. Since Unetbootin (on my Mac) only seems to work with OSs that it downloads from the list (e.g. Mint) and not with iso files that I downloaded on my own (e.g. Zorin, LXLE) I need to find another way to create a liveUSB of LXLE. Any ideas, guys?

Pendrive linux?

Meanwhile, Mint doesn't shut down normally ever since I tried that password change. It's punishing me, and successfully pissing me off. Can't wait to replace it.

Scratch that. LXLE in the house! 8)
Sometimes, you just need Windows. A friend sent me a Windows EXE file that created a liveUSB of that worked.
And thank you again, Early Cuyler.

Ditto. I installed LXLE, and it resurrected my old clunker PC. So far it's humming right along with no problems!
