Greece Gives Finger (Literally) to Germany

Post by goodasgold »

In a 2013 TV interview, just re-issued, Greece's self-prescribed Marxist Minister of Finance, Mr. Varoufakis, stated:

“Greece should simply announce that it is defaulting, just like Argentina did, within the euro in January 2010, and stick the finger to Germany”? – at which point he appeared to raise his middle finger – “and say, ‘Well, you can now solve this problem by yourself’.”?

Mr. Varoufakis now sez the video is a fake and that he never raised his middle finger [apparently "stinkenfinger" in Deutsch (!!)] The interview can be seen at:

To paraphrase the distinguished Marxist Finance Ministers of Argentina and Greece, their attitude toward their creditors is: "Pay money back? We never agreed to pay no money back! We don't gotta pay no stinkin' debts!"

(Partial) Correction: A German satirist has admitted that he faked part of a video showing Greek Finance Minister Varoufakis giving the finger to the EU:

But apparently, in spite of the faking of the obscene gesture, the rest of the video quoting Varoufakis saying that the EU should be punished for Greece's financial irresponisblilty is accurate.
