To put my instructor's comments succinctly, state's rights and commerce (tariffs and property rights) were the driving factors.

Re: Reconsidering Abraham Lincoln
Gents- by far the best discussion I have "heard" in a long time. all of you have brought up profound points, the most interesting for me being the links provided by moda. seeing it in "their" own words was eye opening. I wish I had known of these Declaration of Causes of Seced...

HB today?
While still new to the PP, I love its simplicity and performance, and my own perception is that Harry Browne really knew what he was talking about. Who is the Harry Browne equivalent today?

Leaving the PP for something else?
Great discussion and analogies on a previous post regarding how long it took to convert to the PP.
So I wanted to know if anyone knows someone who was using the PP that later swithched to something else, and if so to what?

Re: SGOL, TLT, VB vs SGOL, TLT, VTI
AgAuMoney- Thanks for the insight. Upon further review.....i reread fail safe investing and as you stated, HB discusses volatility in the stock portion. That's one of the reasons i chose it (VB) in the first place (and as medium tex said, "the chart looks great"). i guess i'm a little w...

Re: SGOL, TLT, VB vs SGOL, TLT, VTI
Appreciate all the help. I will definetely take a look at the short term treasury option and relook VB vs VTI. Medium Tex called it, the VB chart looks good. thanks again. I guess i couldn't resist tinkering.

SGOL, TLT, VB vs SGOL, TLT, VTI
PP Forum- need some help. I discovered the PP in '10 as a result of the '08 crash (don't ask). I've read HB's book (fail safe investing) and adopted the PP after further research (read Bogle, Jim Cramer, and dummies (stock investing, indexing, etf's, mutual funds, options, technical analysis)). E...
