Re: Kat Klub
Thanks, it’s just the “joys” of home ownership. Never thought I’d have three expensive and urgent house projects in a single month. Home stretch, though. O0 Overall I do enjoy owning a home. Not being held "hostage" to a landlord that may renovict me gives me peace of mind. However, I do empathize ...

Re: Led Fridman
Lex Fridman is excellent. This is a complete 180 from my previous position about him, which is that I thought he was really boring as an interviewer and monotone. I had grown too acclimated to Joe Rogan's more energetic style of delivery. However, since Rogan's switch to Spotify I've been giving oth...

Re: Kat Klub
O0 Awesome, Smith. How are you? You are BACK!!! And, one for you: Hello friends! I'm doing well. Right now I've taken up a remote gig at work so I don't have to deal with those insanely high gas prices out there. I'm also finding big savings not having to dry clean suits or get my wallet sniped by ...

Re: The Dawning of a Golden Decade
356 pages? I'm glad I have a lot of spare time and that I read fast. There's a notable section on silver in the second half that I was very interested to read. I've been thinking of adding some silver along with platinum and palladium to my VP. Smithers, did you? Never got around to it. ;D

Re: Ray Dalio video Principles for dealing with a changing world order.
I saw this was posted on the bogleheads forum. The prescription was simple and obvious. Right at the beginning the video says to buy stocks, gold, and commodities. Yet the knuckleheads all went and said “hOw’s THiS aCtIOnaBle???” Unmmmmmm, like none of you guys own commodities or gold. The actionabl...

Berkshire now trading on Canadian exchange... sort of
Berkshire Hathaway now trades on the Canadian Neo exchange as a CDR (Canadian Depositary Receipt). It's currency hedged. Not sure how I feel about that. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/quote/BRK.NE/ At only $25 bucks a share it's a much more convenient way for Canadians to get BRK exposure. The currenc...

Re: Unequal Sector Coverage in ETFs
For what it's worth, VVL, which is the value weighted ETF I hold, has been holding steady so far this year. VEQT, which is a global market cap weighted fund, by contrast, has basically tanked.
The heavy tech weighting the OP is referring to is a big culprit.

Re: Unequal Sector Coverage in ETFs
I wouldn't worry about uneven sector coverage. To the extent to which we worry about that, we are assuming we know more than the market, which we probably don't.
I'd say the best antidote is to add some factor ETFs.

Just for fun I hollowed out an old digital watch and stuck a maplegram inside in order to create a poor man's version of that gold embedded watch I posted about earlier.

Also, burial plots here in Vancouver start well into 5 figure territory. The old man was pragmatic.

Just finished spreading my dad’s ashes at buntzen lake. I can see why he wanted here to be his final resting place. It’s quite a stunning area.

This part in bold is a big reason why the naysayers, well, nay. They don’t get that currency crises arise from seemingly out of nowhere and transpire extremely quickly.
