Re: Joypog's regularly changing AA (originally "The Desert Looking Glass Portfolio")

If it helps at all, Browne did give his blessings in Best Laid Plans to deviate from the neutral 4x25 percentages. In that case the idea was that if the investor had strong inclinations regarding a particular economic condition that he could tilt within certain bounds. The GB would have had Browne's...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

That's some story! Were there any negative aspects to it? There's an increasing amount of published studies on positive benefits very similar to what you're reporting. Honestly, no real negative impacts that I've been able to discern. The next day I was a little tired, but that was pretty much it. ...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

It may be a coincidence, but today has been one of the most productive and optimistic days I've had in a long while. I don't think it is. I find it useful when I'm feeling stuck. Just the same patterns over and over again and I can't seem to improve things. Not much happens the day of, but over the...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

I've been hearing about research into psilocybin for treating depression. And other uses I've mostly heard from a podcast I like -- The Tim Ferris Show https://tim.blog/2021/03/31/psychedelics-101/ Indeed! The gf and I had this particular bag of shrooms in one of our dresser drawers for a while now...

Re: Daily "Check In" Thread For Us

Oh, I forgot to answer your other questions. My girlfriend and I ended up taking the trip together. We consumed it in tea form, which is my preferred method. Surprisingly pleasant tasting when combined with a traditional tea. Not sure about dosage because the lady friend prepared it... it wasn't a l...

Or some other method? Dosage? Was it a meaningful experience? I haven't done a proper psychedelic dose in awhile,...

Re: Is the stick a dying art?

One time, after leg day, I tried to drive home in my manual drive car and my legs were so sore I legit couldn’t do it without stalling every quarter mile.

That was fun. Next time I’m calling dualstow to give me a ride home.

I remember when I was first learning to drive I learned on a stick shift. None of our family cars were automatic at the time (still aren't). Man, that was an experience.

Hi all, I've been lurking occasionally, and was quite surprised to find this - thanks Smith for the shout-out. I stopped posting for several reasons. First and foremost, between my demanding job/career and my role as an Alzheimer's caregiver for my mom, plus getting elected to my coop board of dire...

Good to know, Seajay! Can we stash it at your place? Yup! The security of my storage unit is impregnable! Funny story. When I was in high school I left my wallet in my backpack and stuffed it into one of the lockers during gym class. I did NOT have a lock on the locker. Not a smart move, but hey, I...

THE question. And the one that the Permanent Portfolio is supposed to prevent one from ever having to ask oneself!
I think even Craig once said that once LTT rates drop below, say, 1% that sticking with them would be too dogmatic.

I guess no portfolio is truly ever "set it and forget it".

Soy sauce and Miracle Whip on spring rolls is also an excellent combo.

Thanks, kbg!
