Apparently my superpower of buying at the worst possible time is failing!
I'm expecting a big slug of cash coming in from surrendering a Swiss annuity in a profit sharing plan and am planning to transfer it to a gold IRA.
With my usual timing, this would mean getting a bad exchange rate on the Swiss franc and paying high gold prices, but this time it isn't working.
The insurance company and/or their bank messed up the transfer instructions so the transfer didn't go through but has to be redone.
In the meantime, the Swiss franc is up almost 1.5% against the dollar and gold is down over 2% in dollars.
So assuming it goes through this time at roughly the current prices, I'll have 3.5% more gold than if it had been done properly in the first place.
What is the world coming to?
