The Orville or Star Trek Discovery?

The Orville or Star Trek Discovery? I waited so long for Star Trek, and I was 100% completely disappointed in all aspects of it. Too much fighting, hard to understand, Klingons made to look like demon Orcs, too dark, etc.

The Orville for me came out of left field. I thought it was going to be some crappy spoof of Star Trek, but has the most honest human personal/work interactions, real world issues taken on and a much happier romp through the galaxy feel.

Anyone watch either?

I watched the first two episodes of Orville. I could not take any more of it since I'm a fan of most (all?) of the previous Star Trek TV series and movies. To me, the relationships and dynamics were way too cheesy (except for the visuals - pretty cool ship) and playing to the frequently illogical and often craziness of the current culture vs. exploring new territory - Boldly going where no man has gone before and all ...... But that's just me. Edit: seemed more Jerry Springer or Katy Perry on steroids with a rebooted Data and Worf. I guess I'm not "woke". ;)

I've not yet seen Discovery, my wife saw part of it and said it was pretty good.

Watch the third episode, if you have a chance. Pretty deep topic.

+1 3rd episode The Orville.

1st two episodes of STD were pretty good as well. No SJW lecturing, but it is early. Lots you could pick on, but surprisingly good. Then again the main ship/crew (aside from main character) don't appear till episode 3, so we will have to wait.
