What Should I Do with Proof Coins?

I understand that proof coins are not recommended for the permanent portfolio, but prior to learning of the pp's existence, I did buy some silver eagles and a golden buffalo (like this) from the U.S. mint, just for fun.

Has anyone ever sold these? Are they treated much differently than regular bullion coins? I mean, if they are in perfect condition, are they worth a standard amount above non-proof coins?

Thanks.

You would need to get them graded and then wait a LONG time for them to be more valuable than a bullion coin.

I would just treat them as bullion and enjoy their extra shininess.

I'll do that.  8)
I do wish I could just get all my bullion direct from the mint.

Edit: ooh, I see that a 2002 Silver Eagle sold for $85 on ebay. (That's the date of my silver coins).

Seems like a bit much.
