I love reading this stuff and seeing how much we still don't know, and may never know.

Consciousness creates time is interesting. Do you believe there is a single overall consciousness or do we each have our own? If we each have our own, why/how do we all seem to experience time passing in the same manner?

No, we all have individual consciousness.

And as to why we seem to experience time passing in the same manner, I'm not sure that is true. Remember Einstein's quip about relativity being related to what you are doing? Maybe that wasn't so far off.

But yes, people in the same place moving at low relative velocities do see the same time on clocks. But perhaps that is because you can't interact with anyone or anything with which you aren't synchronized in that way.

Interesting stuff, reminds me of eastern spirituality.

Actually how would you define the word consciousness as you are using it?

There are a few Star Trek and Stargate episodes I want to rewatch now. I love out of phase, mirror universes and time travel episodes the most.

Certainly at work on a busy vs. slow day, time seems to move faster. Or when hitting snooze, that 9 minutes is over in a blink. And sleep too, there's no sense of time. Hmmm...

But then I wonder if our thoughts are causing time to march forward, why do our cells and body parts age?

Lower organisms that you would not think have a consciousness age and die because of our consciousness?

I need a head exploding emoticon.

Very interesting, I'm glad dualstow gave me a link to your blog that I could access. Based upon your thoughts in the blog, I think you would really enjoy these two books. The first book is one of the more challenging books I've read. I ponder some of its thoughts frequently. The second book is a compilation of essays; the four in Part 2, God and Scientific Cosmology, you may find more interesting but the others are good as well. Three of the four I mentioned are by Robert C. Newman, degrees in physics, astrophysics, and theology - an interesting mix.

Perhaps I should substitute "life" for consciousness, since upon reflection, I think that is actually the source of time. Let me look at that.

I read that book years ago, in hopes of learning to code. Sadly, C++ still scares the shit out of me. It's not the book's fault, I just discovered one more thing that I suck at.
