The Great Russia Conspiracy Theory

Here's a refreshing look at the current Russia hysteria, that focuses not on the who-did-what merry go round but on what's truly dangerous about it:
If the party's leaders really believe that Russian intervention is anywhere in the top 100 list of reasons why some 155 million eligible voters (out of 231 million) chose not to pull a lever for Hillary Clinton last year, they're farther along down the Purity of Essence nut-hole than Mark Warner.
...
Moreover, even those who detest Trump with every fiber of their being must see the dangerous endgame implicit in this entire line of thinking. If the Democrats succeed in spreading the idea that straying from the DNC-approved candidate – in either the past or the future – is/was an act of "unwitting" cooperation with the evil Putin regime, then the entire idea of legitimate dissent is going to be in trouble.
...
But if you're not worried about accusing non-believers of being spies, or pegging legitimate dissent as treason, there's a third problem that should scare everyone....That no one seems to be concerned about igniting a hot war with nuclear-powered Russia at a time when both countries have troops within "hand-grenade range" of each in Syria other is bizarre, to say the least.

I saw that Dick Cheney labelled the Russian actions an "act of war".

If trying to affect the results of another country's election (even assuming they did, which I'm not convinced of) is an act of war, then how many countries has the U.S.A. been at war with since the end of WWII? I read an article the other day that counted 81.

Meh. The war hawk is just exposing himself as a chicken little.

Average partisan democrat right now -- "WTF now I love Dick Cheney!"

I thought it was too political, but why not. It's a political thread. Alright -- here's the rest. ;)

IMHO, the Russia meme is finally falling apart with the latest CIA wikileaks and Susan Rice revelations. It's hard to point fingers for information warfare anymore. Pot, kettle, and all that. The saddest part is watching self-described "liberals" suddenly rush to the defense of domestic spying. Politics poisons minds, and principles are way more malleable than people want to admit. (That goes for all political parties, BTW).

Yes, but the best part of the liberal meltdown is how they are suddenly great fans of federalism and the 10th Amendment, which used to be the sole preserve of "right-wing hate groups"!

Neither party has actual policies now other than...what's the other party for? Yes, we are against that.
