No Adam!!! Today, if the market is up, it's because of ubl. if it's down, it's because of ubl.Adam1226 wrote:Those blurbs are almost universally nonsense. The market (the S&P) is up a little. Could be for any reason, but doubt it's Osama.
That's kind of what I was thinking. Not that I would make any bets on it.moda0306 wrote: I would think that with the market hating uncertainty, Osama's death is welcome

I'm not sure I buy it. We have vested interest in the Middle East beyond Bin Laden. Yes, we've spent money on the region...a lot, but I'm not sure how much credit we should give Osama for that. I think this idea makes for a good story, but the issue is probably more complex, as the author kind of concedes.Pkg Man wrote: Bin Laden succeeded in economic strategy http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/n ... con04.html
Saw this today and thought I'd share. I've always known that Al Queda's strategy was a lot deeper than simply knocking down a few buildings. It was really about economic warfare, not simply terrorism for terror sake. Whatever you say about him, it cannot be denied that he was a keen observer of the western world.
