NY City Meet-up?

Several of us are making plans to leave town, perhaps permanently. Before we begin our journeys, now may be a good time to meet in NY City. I am open as to a date, time and place.

GAG, et al,
I am available but not this Sunday. Propose a meet day. Much to talk about as I have settled on the 4x25 HBPP. I need the closing to occur.
BTW, the slow approach the mortgage approvers are taking suggests I will be in New York into October.
Thanks.

I'm going to be overseas for over a month, so it's either this weekend (not Saturday) or late October.
Who else besides bedraggled is forsaking the Big Apple??

Just about any time, weekend or week day, is a good meeting time for me.
As to forsaking the Big Apple, I am thinking of buying a small RV and hitting the road to see more of this beautiful continent. Perhaps late September or October, if all goes well.

Like John Steinbeck in Travels with Charley?
I hope you get that RV and post regular updates! Only, if I were retired like you I'd have gotten out of here before the summer. It's been nonstop oven/steam bath for two months now.

Well, very similar to John Steinbeck. I intend to head out West first, where much of my childhood was spent. Steinbeck had a "hard shell truck camper." I am thinking of a smaller and more streamlined version called a popup truck camper. Something like this:
http://www.fourwh.com/product/grandby-l ... -foot-bed/
And yes, this summer has been the hottest I can ever remember in New York. The great thing about a camper is that when it gets hot, I will just get the hell out of town and head for the mountains. In the winter, if I don't return to my NY apartment, I will head for places like southern Arizona, south Texas or Florida.

That looks great! Now you're giving me ideas...I favor a meetup this weekend if only to hear lots more details about your travel plans.
Once when I was camping in Denali National Park, I met an older couple with a similar pop-up truck camper who served as Wonder Lake's camp caretakers every summer. That's the farthest campground from the park entrance, practically on Mt. Denali/McKinley's doorstep. They were from Missouri, but they'd sold their house and spent winters staying a few months with each of their children in their respective homes, all in different Southern states. I was quite impressed that they and their little camper made a drive back and forth from Florida to Alaska every year!

How about Friday evening.
The Cottage, Amsterdam Av @77th Street (West Side) worked for GAG and me last time. Of course we can meet uptown for Sophie's benefit.
Chime in, please.

Sophie,
Can you make The Cottage on W77th Street or do you need to be uptown.
Finally, I now have the flexibility to meet Sunday.
We will meet according to what you need, Sophie.

Has it been finalized where and when we will meet this Monday for the meet-up? Please give details, and I will be there.
Hopefully the worst of the storm will have departed NYC at that time.

GAG,
Are you OK with Uptown? We have not finalized yet.
Barrett,
I can meet you this week. Goodasgold may like to convene a second time.
A Monday meet may be during the storm.

Barrett,
Do you wish to meet at Grand Central Terminal when you are in town? Think of the storm, too.
If you favor a GCT meet, Tom and AdamA may make it.
GAG,
Twice in one week?

Any location is fine with me.
And a second meeting next week at Grand Central is fine with me, too. It would be great to meet Barrett again, as well as other NY PPers.

Sorry guys, busy weekend and definitely can't go downtown (esp not with subway roulette).
If you hold something uptown I may drop by for a bit. It would be nice to see you before you take off for Florida.

After experiencing a successful operation for a serious illness, I have re-thought my life and am fitting out a type of RV known as a popup truck camper. I figure, why sit at home when I can experience the vast areas of this beautiful North American continent which I have never seen? In about two weeks I will hit the road, headed West, with indefinite plans as to returning to New York.
Get ready, North America: Here I come!
I cannot wait to hear more details of this adventure. I'm back in the US middle of next week (mid-October) - what would you say to a meetup before you take off?

Hi Sophie: I would be pleased to have another meet-up if I am still in town. My schedule is open, as I need some electrical work done on my truck before driving West. Bedraggled is also interested in another get-together before he and Ms. B make the move to Florida.
Let us know some available dates and hopefully we can work something out.
