In the current (very turbulent) investing environment, now may be a good time for PPers in the New York City area to get together and compare notes.
Is anyone interested in getting together, perhaps this weekend? If so, what are a good day and time to do so? And how about a place to meet?

Labor Day weekend is not the best for HBPP philo chats.
The Mark Leavy "get on a plane and go somewhere" philosophy is currently implemented, anyway. Then back to the salt mines next week. Are there salt mine stocks that may be put in a variable portfolio?

I believe that the proprietors of this site have started a new salt mine stock forums and are writing a book on the subject.

There may be a salt mine ETF. If so, there may be a junior salt miners ETF like GDX.
Didn't we see Charleton Heston work the salt mines in Spartacus? This group has a history that, no doubt, appeals to Buffet.

This weekend actually isn't a terrible idea for those of us who aren't going to be out of town. I'm in if enough people are interested.
Here's the place I was trying to remember the name of last time: Le Cheile on 181st/Cabrini Blvd. Super friendly, great bruschettas, and they always seem to have a deal on some form of booze.

Barrett thinks Friday, 4/15 works. I imagine that would be 5PM or so.
Sophie's schedule needs to be accommodated. Seems we will be uptown at 168th Street or maybe 181st Street.

Barrett cannot make it Friday. He said maybe brunch Saturday but I will not make it.
We can continue with Friday uptown or another date. Maybe AdamA can suggest a date.

To be clear, I could actually do Friday but have to be down on 125th Street by 4:30PM. My earlier availability is probably not good for the people still in the work force full-time (though Sophie may need a break from the ineptness that she sometimes posts about on here!).
I could also make it later in the day on Sunday the 17th but don't want to mess up others' plans. AdamA, when are you back in NYC?

I am OK with Sunday, 4/17. Meet time: from 1PM to 2PM. AdamA may not make it Sunday, either.
Sophie and Goodasgold, is Sunday OK with you two?
That place off of Ft. Washington Av (@ 187th Street) was nice and not crowded. I could easily skip Dallas BBQ.
All thoughts are welcome. We also could postpone until early May but this Sunday does work for me.

Sunday is fine with me too, and we can branch out further as regards location. Near the hospital tends to be overpriced and cruddy, because they've got that captive audience. Goodasgold you've traveled farthest, would you like to suggest a place convenient for you?
Otherwise can I suggest 181 Cabrini - really relaxed, nice neighborhood dive with Sunday brunch. It's at the southwest corner of 181st and Cabrini Blvd.

I am not especially familiar with Washington Heights/Inwood, so I can't offer a suggestion. But 181 Cabrini sounds great to me.

I meant, if you'd rather be in another part of town. Uptown is most convenient for some of us, but maybe not all. Not that I'm just SO anxious to jump on the subway on Sunday morning and spend an hour stuck in a tunnel somewhere, which seems to be the new normal....

I am retired, so going anywhere in Manhattan is no problem.
Now that the PP is giving a stellar performance this year (at least so far!), I am in a mood to celebrate with other PP investors. The location is irrelevant.

The restaurant for our big meet last year served beer and Margaritas. Does this place on Cabrini @ 181 offer similar fare?
