http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/02/ ... QV20150217]The U.S. National Security Agency has figured out how to hide spying software deep within hard drives made by Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba and other top manufacturers, giving the agency the means to eavesdrop on the majority of the world's computers, according to cyber researchers and former operatives.
That long-sought and closely guarded ability was part of a cluster of spying programs discovered by Kaspersky Lab, the Moscow-based security software maker that has exposed a series of Western cyberespionage operations.

Here's some more on this bombshell...

http://thehackernews.com/2015/02/hard-d ... cking.html]The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) may be hiding highly-sophisticated hacking payloads in the firmware of consumer hard drives over the last 15 to 20 years in a campaign, giving the agency the means to eavesdrop on thousands of targets’ computers, according to an analysis by Kaspersky labs and subsequent reports.[/quote]
Where's the uproar? This means YOUR hard drive.

I don't really care that the NSA is spying on me, but I certainly hope they ARE spying on foreign governments and terrorist networks.
I pretty much assume that any device I have or cell phone/text/email conversation that I have is there for the taking if someone has an interest in spying on me.

I wonder what's in my hard drive that would please NSA. Maybe I'll download some photos of Zhu zhu just for their pleasure.

Hah, this reminded me of
Michael asking Oscar about his colonoscopy.
"Is there anything I can do to make it more pleasurable for me... or for Dr. Chandry?"
"Ohh.... god..."
"My main concern; should I have a safeword?"
But no, I don't really want the NSA logging all my data or whatever it is they're doing.

Unfortunately it's not up to you.
