Hah! Reub will surely love this one. All I've got to say about it is keep your cold, stinkin' dead hands off my meat!
Preventing catastrophic warming is dependent on tackling meat and dairy consumption, but the world is doing very little,”? said Rob Bailey, the report’s lead author. “A lot is being done on deforestation and transport, but there is a huge gap on the livestock sector. There is a deep reluctance to engage because of the received wisdom that it is not the place of governments or civil society to intrude into people’s lives and tell them what to eat.

Yes, this is just "received wisdom," old reactionary conservatism.

Anyone remember the "broccoli mandate" argument during Obamacare's SCOTUS arguments? If there's anything I've learned, it's that slippery slope arguments are almost always true when it comes to government policy.

On a macro-basis in our over-populated world, I can see the argument for much less meat.
However, as a non-parent (aka, non-contributor to over-population) follower of HB, I'll be putting what I deem to be the best mix of foods in my body... Not what the government wants me to eat.

Listen, MG. Don't be so selfish! This is settled science. The less meat the better. Only the government knows how to utilize it best. Climate change is killing us and drastic measures like this are what's necessary to save us all. So eat less meat and stop the incessant hurricanes, droughts, floods, tornados, and snow storms now while we still can!

Reason # 17 you know it is all made up sh$t: Gee what a coincidence all the remedies=liberal wish list.
The scary part is that I heard this one at work from a cardiologist who I just discovered is a vegetarian. Of course she knows nothing about omega 3 vs omega 6, etc.

Isn't that a double oxymoron???
But really, we shouldn't be too hard on all the great unwashed "little people". Not everyone is as smart as us peeps. Color of authority is not the same thing as intelligence.

MG,
I know that many/most doctors are ignorant about many topics, so I probably should not be surprised. Nevertheless it was still surprising seeing someone who is so good at her job from the conventional medical point of view, being so clueless about other important medical issues.

So you're saying she actually gives her patients the orthodox dogma instead of preaching vegetarianism to them? That's interesting.
