SLV tracking error?

SLV currently shows -1.94% vs yesterdays close
making the calculation from kitco.com, silver seems to be about -1.37% (estimate)
in past, i have viewed SLV (and GLD) as perfect proxy for daily price changes.
Is this no longer valid?

Silver and gold are traded very nearly 24 hrs a day. But SLV and GLD (or IAU) are not. In my experience most so called tracking errors are simply a case of the fund stopped trading before the metal did according to whichever source you are comparing it with (Kitco etc...).

COMEX spot silver and gold markets close daily at 10:25 and 10:30am EST respectively. The SLV and GLD ETF's continue to trade until the US stock market closes at 4:00PM EST.

I stand corrected. I had it backwards.
