Favorite Winter Event?

For me it's the biathlon followed by the Nordic combined. Loved cross-country skiing growing up. Love shooting. Would love to do that big Jump. Well....maybe a smaller one.
No one is more exhausted than the cross-country skiers at the finish.

Can't say as I have a favorite as it has gotten to be kind of boring over the years but if I am going to choose one event to watch it will be women's figure skating.

I agree with you about the biathlon. The difficulty of accurately shooting when your heart is pounding from exertion cannot be overestimated; everything in your body seems to be randomly twitching to your heartbeat. Remarkable control!

I don't really have a favorite event, but the above reminds me of that James Bond movie with the skiiing and shooting. I thought it was Rutger Hauer and 'For Your Eyes Only', but imdb says no.

I miss the days when the female figure skaters would have someone take a pipe to the kneecaps of their opponents! Now that was true competition!

There are a few skiing and shooting sequences over the years, but I'm guessing you're thinking of The Spy Who Loved ME.

Does a cello + skis + shooting count? Now that would make for an interesting Olympic event.

Thanks, Tyler! That might be it, even though For Your Eyes Only

is the one I'm more familiar with from childhood. Maybe it just doesn't have Hauer doing skeet.

I've always liked the various Alpine Skiing events. It might have something to do with the fact that I saw ABC's "agony of defeat" intro many many many times as a kid (even though that was a ski jumping accident).
Always liked bobsledding and luge. I guess I just like seeing people go fast.
Biathlon is cool too. This year's Biathlon announcers are pretty entertaining, if not over-caffeinated.

Consider me a fan of the moguls. Canada won 4 out of 6 medals (2 gold and 2 silver). WOOT WOOT!

Haha!
And just in case anyone is curious why the curlers sweep in front of the stone, it is because it creates a fine layer of water on the ice which lowers the friction between the stone and ice. This allows the rock to slide farther and its glide path will straighten out (ie curl less). So the skip is yelling orders because they are trying to manipulate the path of the stone, without actually touching it. It's all about getting the correct angles. It's a game of millimeters.

Tough choice, the winter olympics are just so awesome. Hockey, moguls, bobsledding, short track.

U.S. is dominating Slovakia in Men's Hockey right now

. I'm looking for a rematch of the 2010 Vancouver Gold game of Canada vs. U.S.

As you can imagine there is not much curling going on in Florida.
New business idea forming for next winter olympics.....
Curling is supposedly the favorite event by far on Wall Street.
