I don't really have a point to make here, it's self explanatory.  This almost doesn't seem real.  The children make me sad...what a waste.

Is it a private issue, does government get involved, and how do entities intervene?

How is the decision making process that is so flawed stopped, without hurting innocent kids?

What would be the prefix here, quindecto- ?
QuindectoMom?

EDIT: btw, it looks like this goes back to 2011.

What strikes me about the whole thing is the complete lack of personal responsibility. Mom just doesn't get that having children is a choice she made and that choice comes with certain responsibilities. As shocking as this specific case is, the 'someone else should pay' mentality is pervasive in American society. There is always someone to sue, some government program to sponge off of, etc. Sad.

When you look at China's 'one baby' policy, even though the reasons behind it are different, perhaps if we had similar rules here people wouldn't be having 15 kids and expecting the taxpayers to cover the bill...
[can of worms opened]
Probably no can of worms on this forum - most seem to endorse personal responsibility.  I personally would prefer to have full personal responsibility but be able to have as many children as I could easily support; that is I don't want the "government" dictating my procreation values (among other things).

I think he meant one-child policy when he said can of worms, not merely endorsing personal responsibility.

This is a very extreme case obviously, but unfortunately there is a fairly significant portion of our population that feels this way to some degree.

Unfortunately this isn't an isolated case.  I remember seeing lots of teenagers giving birth to their 4th kid on the government's nickel while I was in med school.  They typically would smoke, drink, do drugs etc during pregnancy and couldn't be bothered with prenatal care either, so things like fetal alcohol syndrome were pretty common.  They didn't have to work so they had nothing else to do, and why not?  Have a baby = get a raise!

Several of us were very much in favor of a proposed provision to the effect that if you have a baby while on welfare, your future checks are contingent on continued Depo-Provera treatment (birth control given by injection every 3 months).  Didn't get past the courts though.
