I share this only because I have often seen stories like this as proof of global warming climate change.

Actually, it's been a pretty normal winter in Florida so far - 78 today. I've seen much warmer and also much colder.
And if anyone has paid attention to the story about the ship stuck in Antarctica I recommend the book "Mawson's Will", if you haven't read it. It's a great adventure story. The leaders of the expedition that got stuck in the ice were intent on repeating some of Mawson's measurements taken about 100 years ago as proof of global warming. Mawson's group did, indeed, get stuck in Antarctica because of sea ice but it was because they had to be left behind so the ship could leave before the ice froze. Apparently, the freeze came earlier than expected for the latest explorers.
