The targets, all *insert social or political group of choice here*, are described in the document as examples of how "personal vulnerabilities" can be learned through electronic surveillance, and then exploited to undermine a target's credibility, reputation and authority, HuffPo said in its report.

I added the bold section since anyone who believes these kinds of tactics will remain solely focused on Muslims (not that it would make this any less horrifying were they to focus on a single group) is an idiot.

If this doesn't chill you to the bone, you're brain damaged.  At this point I think the NSA is actively reading 1984 to get ideas on how to better utilize their surveillance tools.  It's probably part of their new hire orientation package.

I wonder which contractor the NSA will use to manufacture their rat face-cages for Room 101.  I'm sure they'll be Made in the USA.

Great quote, anyway. And your point is well taken. They'll find a reason to find dirt on all of us, and eventually all of us will be the subject of an NKVD-like file.

EDIT: actually it reminds me of some recent discussions I've heard about Angela Merkel. In the early ones, participants merely noted that she is sensitive to phone bugging b/c she's originally from *East* Germany. In later conversations, someone said, "She was ok with what the NSA was doing until it was her phone."
