Sports Betting as an Investment

Sports betting can be extremely lucrative as an investment. Once we get past all the social stigma attached to it and really look at the numbers, it is hard to deny it as being legitimate. In an effort to show people how I responsibly do it, I've decided to start a thread where I will post all fight picks for free. This way everyone can see it is not a scam or luck but an actual viable alternative. I'll begin with a bankroll of $10,000.
All picks courtesy of
RLD Investments
UFC
Fabricio Werdum Line: -305 Wager: $1,171 To Win: $383.93
Boxing
Erislandy Lara Line: -550 Wager: $1,025 To Win: $186.36

Awhile back I remember following a betting recommendation site run by a meteorologist. His edge was the ability to predict weather far in advance and he mostly played over/unders in football/baseball. He had a great track record.

I never put the concepts of sports betting and long term investments together. Wonder if I can do some back testing on this... maybe find a way to rationalize a trip to Las Vegas.

Is investing very different from gambling anyway?

i may have mentioned it before, but i learned a ton about risk/risk aversion and bankroll management playing no limit holdem online, first in free games and after winning some real money in those, in nickle and dime games. there are definitely some overlaps between investing and gambling, especially the psychology and riskcalculation parts..

surprisingly difficult to think of any fundamental ones, other than he nature/rules of the games being played and the difference in the factors that influence outcomes....
if you have money it is invested in something and every investment is a gamble...

One thing I like to do is to go to Las Vegas right after the Super Bowl.
I bet $25 on the last place team in every division to win the Super Bowl the following year.
It makes the season much more exciting.

You would have been ahead if you started with $10,000 on 6/8/2013 in a PP...You would now have $9,813...
... and no one gets hurt!...
