What do you mean by "shellacked"? I get wanting silver protected from the elements as sulphur in the air or body oils can accelerate tarnish, but gold doesn't have that problem.

I think it's because of ETF approval - it did offer a somewhat-safe way to buy it and some publicity has been created. Bitcoin price also often goes up after some nice round number (like recent 50k) has been achieved, as people FOMO into it and various influencers spin outlandish predictions (million dollars by 2035 2030 2028!).

First off, the reality is you don’t have to choose: A diversified investing portfolio typically includes a mix of stocks and bonds, and some experts recommend including gold investments as a "safe haven" asset as well
