Not saying its going to happen again. Point in fact I seriously doubt it would, unless we had an SHTF situation. But the precedent exists.

I always loved the twist of the language in these kinds of laws and what the press parrots.

For example:

1) Citizen has gold. That's "hoarding."
2) Government has gold. That's "storing."

Got it.

Only one person was ever prosecuted and he got off.

So just ignore it.

If someone posted that in public today it would be riddled with holes from bullets peppering it.

It is truly fascinating to talk to my great uncle, who is 105 yrs old and still pretty sharp, about the great depression. He said that at that time there was a fairly patriotic vibe about the public and the citizen/govt. relationship was decent. Today, it's about as bad as it will get ...any worse will be close to the tipping point of revolution. I don't think they would go for the gold of citizens unless the amount gets much larger than it is today. They would go for the some $12 trillion in retirement accounts or the $8 tril. in banks savings accounts. Obama made the first move on that today....http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/d ... althy-iras
