I like the idea, but I do wonder about the ease of fakes.

I like the idea too, but as you said, counterfeiting could pose a problem and would be tough to detect.  The easiest way to detect fake coins is by size (diameter and thickness) and weight, but I don't see a way to do that with the CombiBar.
