Alameda County rewards boss: $400k…for life
Alameda County supervisors have really taken to heart the adage that government should run like a business — rewarding County Administrator Susan Muranishi with the Wall Street-like wage of $423,664 a year.
For the rest of her life.
According to county pay records, in addition to her $301,000 base salary, Muranishi receives:

Any comments on this? Maybe she's "worth every dime" like one source says in the article. ;-)
Well, she did put in 38 years.
I like watching you guys discuss topics that get locked fairly promptly at bogleheads.

I think it's asinine. Gov't should not be a feeding trough for politicians to enrich themselves at the expense of their constituents.

Here's what happened in a similarly crooked case:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... 13892.html
LOS ANGELES—Five former officials of the small city of Bell, Calif., were convicted Wednesday on corruption charges after they were accused of overpaying themselves by millions of dollars in all.
Prosecutors had claimed that the five former council members and former mayor illegally inflated their pay through roles with other city-related entities. Several of them allegedly collected $100,000 in annual pay for part-time city-council positions.
Former City Manager Robert Rizzo, who is accused of receiving the biggest overpayment by far, is to be tried at a later date, as is former Assistant City Manager Angela Spaccia.
Mr. Rizzo alone was charged with misappropriating $4.3 million in public funds. He collected $1.1 million per year in salary and benefits; Ms. Spaccia received $540,000.
Aside from what they received as salary, the money they are accused of wrongly collecting included the value of cashed-out vacation and sick time.
Maybe Alameda County residents and prosecutors should look down South at LA County to see how it's done.

The guy who said that is, of course, a fellow county supervisor.
And people wonder how a wealthy state like California goes bankrupt.

If this woman is going to get paid like a damn CEO with a golden parachute, she had better had provided similar value during her term!
