Is there Swipe for Apple?

There are obviously some knowledgeable Apple users at this forum, so I thought I'd ask:
A friend of mine uses this neat capability on his Android phone which lets him swipe from letter to letter with his index finger instead of picking his fingers up and doing conventional typing. I think it's even called Swipe.
Sometimes when I have to type with one hand (no, it's not what you think so get your collective mind out of the gutter!) on my desktop keyboard, I find I do something similar- the index finger of my free hand hovers just above my physical keyboard for "hunt and peck" rather than typing the conventional way and trying to emulate what the other hand would conventionally do.
I would love to type this way (Swipe) on my ipod touch. Is there an app for it?
Edit: I also have a wireless touchpad for my Mac mini desktop and I know there are built-in apple gestures for it. I wonder if there's a desktop app that would do something similar for the touchpad? Like a virtual keyboard?
