Gyroscopic Investing

Hi,

I need to buy long term bonds in my RRSP. Is there a way to keep track of Canadian Long term bonds prices in graphs? With ETFS, such as ZFL or TLT, we can easily view price changes in graphs.

For convenience, would you buy TLT over LTT especially when CAD is at par.
Any issues buying TLT in registered accounts?

My pp includes TLT and VTI and I'm glad I have them. I don't have any Canadian LTT so I'm debating buying Canadian or TLT all the way now. I can see that it will be cumbersome to rebalance with Canadian LTT although I will be mainly adding to portfolio without selling anything.

Make a proper CAN PP and a proper US PP with a ratio based on your reasoning and needs. For example, 50-50 CAN-US PP or 75-25 CAN-US PP should be fine. I wouldn't go less than 50% CAN PP if you live and plan to retire in Canada.

I don't know what should be the optimal way of rebalancing (if any) between these two portfolios, since I have only US PP. You might also want to use AUS or GB PP instead of US PP if it suits you better as a complement to your CAN PP...
