Vintage Biden. So funny. I can picture the Obama people face palming.

I got a chuckle out of his Elmer Fudd approach to personal safety. "Just fire two blasts." That's the first thing they tell you in a firearm safety class right?

My goodness, "an AR-15 is harder to aim"? No!
I've handled both plenty and it's not the case- oh, why am I arguing with Joe Biden...

So he's advocating:
1. Firing warning shots (illegal)
2. Using a short-ranged weapon with no sights for defense against people far away in a rural area (idiotic, and probably illegal if the distance is too far)
3. Asking a women to withstand the recoil of touching off both barrels of a double-barreled shotgun (difficult)
4. Having fewer rounds available rather than more when your life is in danger (nonsensical)
And these people presume to write new laws when they don't even seem to know what's legal right now, let alone what's realistic?
Amusingly enough, someone forgot to disable comments on the video so you can see the volume of pro-gun commentary compared to the amount of people actually supporting senile old uncle Joe.

Even though I personally disagree with Obama on most things, I always thought he seemed like a very intelligent guy. When, however, he selected Biden as his running mate, I wondered about how smart Obama really was.
Everyone on Capitol Hill has known Biden was a doofus for literally decades. He's a very nice and down to earth guy, but he's goofy and unpredictable. Why Obama felt he was the best available VP choice was (and is) baffling to me.

Think about the strategic value of Biden's comments there. His purpose is to reassure moderate Dems that they're not really out to ban all guns or destroy the right to self-defense.
See? You can keep your nice antique shotgun and it'll even be handy for driving off prowlers!
I doubt Biden understands this, but the fact that he's repeated this "Get a shotgun! They're easier to use than an AR-15!" absurdity can only mean that his handlers see some value to it, and I think they're right: a lot of very intelligent people reeeeeeeally don't want to believe that this crew is looking to destroy the civilian shooting culture entirely, and Biden's unabashed antique shotgun ownership helps them avoid seeing the truth.

In the vein of "oxygen-wasting politicians giving self-defense advice"...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... Cvng-jSp60
Dem. Rep. Joe Salazar on why women don't need guns to protect themselves from being raped.
Salazar said: "That's why we have call boxes, that's why we have safe zones, that's why we have the whistles."
then "You don't know if you feel like you're gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone's been following you around, or you feel like you're in trouble, and when you may actually not be . . ."
That's right ladies, just bust out that whistle and give it a brisk blow. While you're at it, get out your flashlight with the bat signal taped over the end and shine it at the clouds.
And don't forget, the armed man chasing you down the alley has human rights that absolutely must be considered! Don't go blowing that rape whistle willy nilly and giving him hearing damage until you're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN he's raping you!

I can finally sleep better knowing that rape is prohibited in specific zones.

It's fool proof, based on the many years of empirical evidence behind "gun free zones." The trick is getting your residence, place of work, common recreational locations and the surrounding areas designated as "rape free zones."

I'm just going to designate a 500 ft radius around my body as a "crime-free zone", with offenders punishable by me calling the police and waiting for officers to show up and prevent the crime. I can't see any problems with this approach.
If that doesn't work, maybe I'll consider increasing the radius to 1000 feet.

Make sure you designate the air space above you as a crime free zone as well.
That will prevent the helicopter and catapult strategies from being available to the bad guys.
