Thanks to Jack Spirko of The Survival Podcast for interviewing me. We touched on a number of interesting topics about the Permanent Portfolio:
  1. Why diversification into assets you don’t believe in is still important
  2. The best ways to buy an asset like gold
  3. Geographic diversification in today’s world
  4. Many more
Here is the link to the show and you can also get it through iTunes

Well if you know some podcasts either Tex or I could do, please let us know. Remember that Tex is the diplomatic and good looking one. I'm the blunt and ugly one. So choose accordingly.

I don't know of any other shows offhand, but I like the ones you have done on your own.  You should record them more frequently if you think of any topics you haven't covered.

That would be a weird experience.

I'm sure it would be fun.

They would probably portray us as part of the weirdo gold crowd.

Maria Bartiromo: "25% in gold!!!!!  OMFG.  You must think the end is near.  Tell me, Mr. Rowland, if the end IS near, what effect do you think that will have on the money that is on the sidelines?"

Craig: "Well, what we are really talking about is a diversification strategy and gold is just part of the strategy.  There isn't really any money on the sidelines with this strategy.  It's a static approach with predefined rebalancing points."

Maria Bartiromo: "That's fascinating....Mr. Tex, what say you about the money on the sidelines?"

MediumTex: "Who is John Galt?"

I just finished the original podcasts yesterday.  I enjoyed them all.  I enjoyed the discussion with Rick Ferri the most simply because the discussion highlighted the differences in viewpoints more readily than the same information in the various Boglehead threads.

I would encourage more podcasts of  the same type, e.g., discuss the PP with other folks such as Larry Swedroe.

In addition, how about some interviews with subject matter experts from the actual institutions with which PP folks might do business - not puff pieces used as advertising, but actual discussion on concerns of interest to all, e.g., if one stores gold with a well known company such as bullionvault.com how do we know the gold is there, of the quality stated, what are the details of the insurance coverage, etc.  Folks from treasurydirect.gov, the PERM ETF, etc.

More ideas gleaned from HB's radio show.    Perhaps podcasts on financial privacy and asset protection.

I would also be interested to learn the real world experiences of Craigr in the startup community, such as lessons learned, raising money, people management, etc.  Fits in with take risks with your career.

Just listened to the podcast this morning.  Highly enjoyable.

Not sure about the Everbank recommendation though.  They've got quite a few pretty harrowing reviews, online.

It will give them more to talk about besides Herbalife.

That is a far more interesting topic than investing and finance I can promise you!
