Nerve regeneration protocol

This is the latest iteration of supplements I have used to help people with nerve demage e.g. people who had lost strength in hand/fingers from "pinched nerve in neck".  Nerves can regenerate on their own so I have no way of being sure if the person got better on their own or the supps actually helped.  There is data in some fashion on these.  Anyone who got this recommendation was already taking a good multiple with at least 250 mg vitamin c.

1.  B12  5000mcg  one per day
2. Acetyl  carnitine 1500mg    750 mg twice a day
3. Lipopic acid 500 mg (more e.g. 800 mg if she is diabetic)
3. Evening primrose oil to supply 500 mg  of GLA
4. Biotin  5 mg MILLIGRAMS with b’fast

Oh and nerve regeneration is a SLOW process and I would allow 3-6 months to start seeing some benefit and at least 12 months for maximal benefit.

These are rather large doses.

What's particular about Biotin and nerves?

As far as doses are concerned, therapeutic doses are of course larger than routine "life extention" doses.  For example I consider life extention doses of lipoic acid to be 150 to 300 mg (or larger--I forget the human equivalent thestanford researcher is recommending in the lipoic acid + carnitine).  For diabetic neuropathy: WebMD states:

"or treating type 2 diabetes and improving symptoms such as burning, pain, and numbness in the legs and arms: 600 or 1200 mg daily."

Obviously there is no way to do randomized double blind studies and determine the optimal doses.

Biotin: there is some evidence (perhaps it was only in diabetics) that biotin helps with nerve regeneration.  It is also sometimes added to lipoic acid supps (I forget if this is presently considered necessary).

Biotin and GLA (evening primrose oil) are perhaps less important than the others, but if I had this, I would take them also, since there is no downside.

"If you choose to take LA supplements, the Linus Pauling Institute recommends a daily dose of 200-400 mg/day of LA for generally healthy people."

And contrary to what you might expect by the name, they are fairly conservative
