The entire video is pretty good as well. It looks like he tweaked it slightly. He has inflation protected bonds and preferred stock.

Thank you for SHARING.
It was already prooved in this forum that rebalance is better once a year and not as much as we can as it is on the VIDEO.
Right?

Rebalance once a year or check it once a year and rebalance when you hit the 35/15 bands? Didn't hear anything about the latter in this discussion but I'm leaning that way myself right now.

I have heard this alleged several times - that Jacob Fugger invented the PP concept, yet none of the quotes attributed to him and related to this topic have a good source. There used to be a Wikipedio entry that quoted Jacob Fugger and the Permanent Portfolio, but it was removed after it turns out that certain Canadian investors were apparently making up the quotes. There is a Fugger family library in Germany that could be used to verify any quotes.
I have read some of the Fugger works in their original German. Jacob Fugger did diversify his investments and he was a big believer in land (especially forest land, the investments of which still partially fund the Fugerrei, a low income housing project that may be the oldest of its kind in the world and was set up in Fuggers will). Jacob also invested in gold and silver and numerous business ventures.
I speculate that he did follow something similar to the Talmudic advice of dividing your assets in three equal parts of land, business and reserves. Jacob was not Jewish, but likely was influenced by Jewish traders. Since at the time cash was gold and vice versa, reserves likely means gold and silver.
Over the centuries, the investments in gold and silver and land.. All survived. What almost bankrupted the Fuggers are their investments with the Government. THe Hapsburg empire defaulted on their obligations. Perhaps Jacob Fugger was smarter than we are... As our version of the permanent portfolio entrusts 50% of the assets to the full faith and credit of the U.S Government. It is precisely this imbalance that makes me hesitate with HBs PP.
If someone has quotes from Jacob Fugger to back up the thesis that he is the father of the permanent portfolio, please share and let's dig into the origin of those quotes and whether they are real or invented.

He seems like the type of historical person whose work should be translated into many languages.

I tried to dig into Jakob Fugger quotes re. the PP a few years ago, but found nothing substantial and a lot of stuff re. Fugger that was being used for purposes at least near fraudulent.
I think the best one can get from Fugger is the general concept of diversification as earlier explained in this thread.
However, I'd be interested in learning more if someone can find reputable english materials either biographical or translated from Fugger's writings.

I've not read it yet but the book Men of Wealth by John T Flynn has a chapter on Fugger. Also the book is available for free download at Mises:
